The role of e-Learning as a tool for education and training is broad, embracing both higher education and school education (K-12) and is an integral component for lifelong learning and continuous improvement. The main thrust of e-Learning in Jordan to date has naturally come from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and who as part of its overall strategy to employ Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education established a facilitating body – the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Center for Information and Educational Technology. In view of that, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has established a National e-Learning Strategy for Higher Education institutions. In this paper, we present a vision of e-Learning for higher education institutions in Jordan, in general, and for the University of Jordan, in particular. Additionally, in order for e-Learning to be truly successful, we provide several e-Learning objectives for developing e-Learning at the University of Jordan particularly. This study also seeks to examine and explore the main challenges associated with the successful utilization of e-Learning systems in higher education in Jordan.

This paper discusses the implementation of an e-learning program at a Jordanian University (AlAhliyya Amman University). The program originally aimed to establish a virtual university which offers totally online courses but due to a number of reasons there had to be some changes in the implementation process. The paper discusses such changes and challenges faced by AAU in implementing its e-learning program from an IS project management point of view. Findings suggest that implementing such projects needs careful consideration of a variety of issues to ensure that the objectives are achieved. The case provides rich insights to other educational institutions wishing to implement such projects.

The development of information and communication technology (ICT) and e-learning has enhanced the process of teaching and learning in Jordanian higher education institutions particularly in the Hashemite University (HU). HU is considered one of the leading universities in adopting e-learning. The attitude toward ICT and e-learning is measured to understand how ICT and e-learning would be accepted through applying the diffusion of innovation (DOI) theory. The results showed a significant relationship between students' perception of technology characteristics and their attitude towards using the technology in the educational system. In this chapter, factors influencing user acceptance and adoption of ICT in Jordan on student motivations for the acceptance of technologies necessary for the delivery of e-learning activities are being handled.

The study aimed to identify the reality of e-learning in the Jordanian public universities from the point of view of the faculty members. Therefore, a questionnaire was prepared on a random sample of the faculty members in three public universities: Al-Balqa Applied University, Mu'ta University and Al al-Bayt University, they were (330) faculty members from different disciplines. The study found the following results: No significant difference between the average grades of faculty members on the axis (extent of the use of e-learning, its pros and cons, and its constraints) depending on the variable of the scientific rank and according to the variable of teaching experience, and the absence of a statistical significance difference between the average grades of the faculty members on the axis (extent of the use of e-learning, its pros and cons and its constraints) depending on the variable of specialization, and the existence of a statistical significance difference between the av...
A Comparative Study of E-Learning Systems in Saudi Arabia Universities
Journal of Computer Science IJCSIS
E-Learning is an interactive system in which the learning content is available online and provides automatic feedback to students' learning activities. There are many types of software available that provide e-Learning, both commercial and open source. The key to understanding the differences between these e-Learning platforms is to study their systemic nature. This study compares and evaluates e-Learning platforms. It aims to explore their strengths and limitations. To do so, three e-Learning systems, BlackBoard, Moodle and Jusur, were selected. The main objective was to select a suitable e-Learning system that meets the requirements of Qassim University. Qassim University has a large campus that requires a well-built e-Learning platform suitable for a high standard of education and research. The process of e-Learning in Saudi Arabia, especially in High Education has introduced in this paper with a brief history about e-Learning in Saudi Universities.
